About Us
SOAR RPM is run by Brett Rodoreda. He has worked in the disability sector since 2015 - first as a support worker, then as an education assistant (EA), and now as an RPM provider. Here’s what he has to say about how he came to teach using RPM.
“I was first introduced to RPM in 2017 as an EA at an Education Support Centre (ESC). I accompanied a non-verbal student, who had already learned to communicate on a letterboard, to mainstream classes and, over time, we developed his ability to communicate with me. We became able to participate more in classes and hold discussions with each other. I found it astounding what this young man was capable of, and am grateful for all that he taught me.
In 2020 I took the opportunity to learn how to teach using the Rapid Prompting Method from Soma Mukhopadhyay, completing the introductory practitioner course and becoming an approved practitioner in May 2020. Shortly after, I launched SOAR RPM to become the first provider of RPM within Western Australia.
Having this opportunity to improve the lives of people that are so often overlooked is a privilege and a pleasure. And the knowledge that these people who I call my students also act, in part, as my teachers is both wonderful and humbling. I couldn’t continue to provide the service to them, and teach them as I do, without everything I learn from each of them. I will always be grateful to the students I have worked with, and to their families for entrusting me with something so precious as the education and development of their son or daughter.”
